louis-vuitton-springsummer-2013-womenswear-show

Inspired by the works of conceptual artist Daniel Buren and his graphic and disciplined approach to shapes, Marc Jacobs’ Spring/Summer 2013 Womenswear Collection for Louis Vuitton was developed around the concept of terseness and the sparse use of details and embellishments. The collection came down in pairs from a mirrored Mylar stage through an imposing set of escalators and then landing onto a catwalk featuring the iconic Damier pattern in yellow and white.
The collection came in three lengths – mini, midi, and maxi – mirroring Les Deux Plateaux, an installation piece in the Palais Royal by artist Daniel Buren with columns in three different heights arranged in a grid. The silhouette is elongated and minimalist with the Damier pattern featured front and center. The Damier came in different chromatic matchings: black & white, white & yellow, white & green, white & beige, white & nude. Check out the collection in the video above.
